the huntered housewife

our family life, our way

I’m going to need something else to talk about

on October 31, 2014

Our house is just about finished, which means that pretty soon I will have to think of something else to talk about.

Deary me, how will I cope? No, really, I’m sure I can cope. But it won’t be every day that’s for sure. I will be way too busy trying to keep our house looking clean and tidy to have the time to write every day. Or I might be unpacking boxes. It will take a while to find a place for everything and even longer to keep everything in its place

Our walk through with our site supervisor is happening tomorrow (which is almost today already due to the late hour I am writing this). This is our chance to check things out and identify anything that is wrong or needs fine tuning prior to the handover date, which is still to be advised. Our site supervisor has said there are things to be done and that he will go through them with us as part of tomorrow’s process. And I think this is when we find out what we have to get completed in order to obtain the interim occupation certificate. We have already taken steps towards getting the things we are expecting to be raised completed. There have been several phone calls squeezed into our hectic schedules and companies kindly agreeing to meet us out of standard business hours as between work and after school activities we simply can’t get there during their open times. And they are not open on weekends here in the country.

This is where we miss having something like the King St strip of shops to browse in all weekend (Illawarra people will know what I mean), having everything at your fingertips. Not much is open here after midday Saturday.

Anyway, things will happen. They need to happen, so they will.

So here are a couple of pics from today.

1. Back of house.

3.  Dead grass and cracked soil. This was mud sticking to my boots not long ago. We. need. rain.

4. It’s hard to see in this photo, but there is a gap that shouldn’t be visible were the rim meets the ceiling. On our list of things to be raised at our walk through.

5. What the top of a water tank looks like.

I had something else to say, but I have completely forgotten what, which is not surprising, given that it has now hit midnight and I am very tired from what is proving to be an exhausting week. We are both running around like chooks with no heads and we can’t see it easing up in the immediate future. But oh well, that’s the way it is at the moment and we will keep powering on. Because that’s what we do.

Anyway, I’m off. Catch you later.

Karen.
