the huntered housewife

our family life, our way

Beginning of our front porch.

on September 10, 2014

I had a giggle today when I took a phone call from the company who is supplying the built in water filter in the kitchen of our new house. I know we have an unusual surname, but somewhere along the line, someone has just taken a guess at it, maybe they heard it said over the phone because the spelling she had was a version that even I haven’t seen before!

Anyway……….that doesn’t explain where our house is up to. Except that a water filter has been ordered. (She asked had we moved in yet, so it mustn’t be too far away).

The kids and I were pretty excited to see the solar panels on the roof for our hot water system.

And even more excited to see the beginnings of our front porch! This is what I have been waiting for. As well as the kitchen, laundry, lounge room, bedroom, bathroom and all the rest of our house lol! The timbers for the porch are up, with the roof and plastering to come. The plastering of the ceiling of the porch is not standard, we are paying extra for that bit. It was a must in my book, I didn’t want to look up and see exposed beams, plus they are places where spiders like to take up residence and I don’t want them living there. So a plaster lined porch ceiling it is! Plus we both think it will look much nicer, particularly as we are also paying extra to have enclosed eaves, which is our preferred option.

Here are today’s photos:

4. Looking forward to it being finished. Many a cup of tea and glass of wine will be enjoyed on this porch!

The painters are due late next week the tilers late the following week. Apart from that I don’t know what is happening in what order. You get to play along in our mystery game!

Back with more when there is more.
