the huntered housewife

our family life, our way

It’s not so messy now – a construction update.

on August 15, 2014

We spent a bit longer having a look around today. Our house-to-be looked quite inviting.

The rubbish/excess building bits have been removed and the bricks have been cleaned. The brick cleaning was done yesterday – there’s those fabulous observation skills of mine on show again. I guess I was too excited by seeing the unexpected electrical work that I forgot to look too closely at anything else.

I took lots of photos today. I find it interesting to see how a house is built. I haven’t seen that done before. When you buy an established house you don’t know what it looks like behind the gyprock or in the roof – I like to leave the climbing in the roof to others.

I met one of our next door neighbours today. We discussed drainage and the fence. Excitement plus right there lol! But proper drainage is crucial due to the highly reactive soil. Worth the extra expense to get someone in for advice. He recommended the dude he sought advice from.

If you are bored by any of the photos, just scroll on to the next one, I won’t mind. I promise. And if you don’t tell me, I won’t even know!

Here’s today’s lot.

2. Looking into the garage. Delivery of materials for front porch has arrived.

3. Looking pretty on the approach. Front yard cleaned of rubbish and leftover bits. I wonder if we get to keep the excess bricks.

7. Clean and pretty bricks!

8. This is what a meterbox looks like inside the wall. You’re welcome, you can sleep well tonight now that you know what it looks like.

I feel like a broken record when I say that rain is expected over the next few days. It was due to roll in this evening but hasn’t arrived yet. At least the roof is on now, so even if it does rain, work can continue. Just maybe in a different order than expected. The carpenters are due to start on our eaves and the front porch, so we’ll see what happens.

Back with more when there’s more.

Karen.
