Our Weekend – Part Two

on October 30, 2012

I ended Part One of our weekend with us leaving Cutting Horse & heading off to the Washpools for our picnic lunch.

The Washpools are located in Towarri National Park, north-west from Scone. If you follow this link, it shows you a map of where it is. Unless I have stuffed it up lol!

There are camping grounds, a picnic area complete with environmentally friendly toilets (always important to know what the toilets are like) and Middle Brook which is the river with a natural swimming hole. We bypassed the camping grounds, as I’d heard it was 4WD only access (but apparently you can get there with a regular car too).

kookaburra checking us out, maybe hoping to share our picnic?

beautifully clear water, perfect for kids to play in

from the southern end, heading back towards the paddling section.

over a hill, around a bend & met with a breathtaking view on the way home.

almost home, all a bit weary by now

We continue to be gobsmacked by the gorgeous views. Yes, the Illawarra is a beautiful area too, I’m not taking anything away from that. But this is different. There are so many open spaces and mountains in every direction. There’s no coastline here! And driving is so easy & pleasant with miles and miles between traffic lights. It’s nothing to drive 90 minutes without having to stop.

And that’s what we did on Sunday, when we took the boys to their Tae Kwon Do tournament. More about that, with pics, in Part Three. Tomorrow’s post.

Hope you are enjoying what I’m writing. Feel free to leave me a comment telling me yes or no. I would love it if you do!
